FLOATING FIGURED CHERRY TABLE
Partially inspired by some of James Krenov’s work with the idea of the legs rising higher in the piece than they would traditionally be expected to. The legs mate to the skirts via mortise and tenon joinery, which was also used to connect the two half-lapped table top supports to the skirts. With this design, no part of the table top is connected to the legs or skirts and achieves a floating table top look. The tops of the legs rise to just proud of the table top.
Figured Cherry features prominently in two of the three boards comprising the table top broken up by a straight grained section in the center. This allows the natural beauty of the figuring to stand out while not being overwhelming. This piece measures 20” x 20” and stands 30” tall
